Date of Service

The laboratory will use the date of service the day the specimen is collected. If the collection spans more than 24 hours, the date of service will be when the collection ends. For specimens that are stored for more than 30 days, they are considered to be “archived” and the date of service would be the date the specimen is obtained from storage. Specimens stored for 30 days or less would have a date of service of the date the specimen was collected.
