H | An upper case H indicates a numeric value higher than the established reference range. NOTE: The H will only appear if the procedure has established limits for high values. |
L | An upper case L indicates a number value lower than the established reference range. NOTE: The L will only appear if the procedure has established limits for low values. |
C | An upper case C indicates a critical value. NOTE: The C will only appear if the procedure has established limits for critical high or low values. |
A | An upperĀ caseĀ A indicates an amended result. A footnote will provide the previous value and date and time of correction. |
f | A lower case f indicates a footnote associated with the test or result. |
Not Done | Not done; a report will not be forthcoming. |
QNS | Quantity of the specimen is not sufficient for testing; a report will not be forthcoming. |
@ | Denotes test was performed at a reference laboratory. A footnote will indicate the reference lab name. |
$ | Denotes a test with interpretative data |
In most cases, any abnormal result will also print in bold type.
If results of a test are pending, the status of the specimen will be displayed (i.e. IN LAB, IN PROCESS, etc.) and acknowledges the test request although analysis is not complete at the time the report was printed.
