Anatomic Pathology

Anatomic Pathology at Chambersburg, Ephrata, Gettysburg, Good Samaritan, Waynesboro and York Hospitals serves various clinical care providers throughout Cumberland, Franklin, York, Adams, Lancaster, and Lebanon Counties and also services parts of Northern Maryland. Surgical Pathology services include intraoperative consultation, tissue processing and diagnostic review including the performance of a broad range of special stain and immunohistochemical testing, and specific case consultations.  Collaboration with the local County Coroner and Forensic Pathology Associates, Inc. of Allentown, PA provides for timely and cost effective forensic and medical autopsy services for all WellSpan hospitals. 

Cytopathology gynecologic services include PAP smear, liquid preparation processing and screening with diagnostic review and specific case consultations. Cytopathology non-gynecologic services include fluid processing and diagnostic review; fine needle aspiration performance, technical assistance and diagnostic review; assistance with ultrasound and/or CT guided imaging for specimen adequacy evaluation at the time of the procedure; and specific case consultations.

Collaboration with clinical colleagues by the twenty-three Pathologists, eight Pathologists' Assistants, and any employee in the division provides greater depth to the quality of research activity throughout the institution.
